Destination Known | Aspen-Snowmass

I spent the end of last week on a solo vacation in Aspen-Snowmass for Wanderlust festival. It's majestic. It's the kind of place that turns on the millenial mind-field and makes you seriously question why you too aren't pursuing the good life full time.

Stay – Snowmass

  • (splurge) Viceroy

  • (save) Holiday Inn Exp

Eat – Snowmass

  • il Poggio – chef is the owner, warm dinner spot

  • Fuel – casual coffee and cafe with a most delish caprese salad

Drink – Snowmass

  • Venga Venga – Tequila bar with a terrible frozen marg due to OJ but an unbeatable patio and view of the slope, top pick for navigating the scene solo

  • Tucks – Total dive with redeeming qualities including a lively patio, occasional live band and entertaining local crowd

Stay – Snowmass

Eat – Aspen

  • Maru – if you'd rather spend on lift-tickets than shmance (a hybrid of fancy-shmancy) sushi at Matsuhisa, head here and order the 6 course omakase sushi chef tasting for $60; every course was the size of a full app so more than enough of the most fresh + unique + delicious fish

  • Meat + Cheese – top tuna tataki

  • White House Tavern - simple american food, super cozy, lively, candlelit cabin restaurant and bar

  • WINTER ONLY Cloud 9 @ Aspen Highlands - the investment in apres-champange is pennies compared to your social currency returns (source: my instagram feed from dec - mar)

Do (Summer)

  • Maroon Bells – Take the 10 min bus up from Aspen Highlands and hike around the unbelievable scenery. It started raining when I arrived hence the strange but dashing outfit shown above.

  • Slaughterhouse Rapids – Go with Blazing Adventures if departing from Snowmass and if Talbott isn’t growing gourmet ‘shrooms in Ecuador then make sure you go with him

  • Rim Trail – At the top of this trail in Snowmass are views and a (perfect for yoga) marble platform
